The Fine Line Between High Jewelry and Artwork
For luxury gemstone collectors and art aficionados alike, high jewelry offers an aura of sophistication with a posh undertone.
By leveraging our network to source rare colored gemstones and leaning on our world-class craftsmen to design custom-tailored creations, we take our high jewelry collection even higher than the legendary Swiss Alps, living up to the legendary Saint Moritz that inspires our work.
On the one hand, high jewelry is reminiscent of exclusivity and irreplaceability, facilitating an enthralling experience for onlookers and owners alike. On the other hand, high jewelry exhibits best-in-class authenticity through unmistakable artistic finesse. In turn, high jewelry, especially each piece encapsulated within our englow collection, lives with elegance and distinctiveness at heart.

As demonstrated by the likes of Louis XIV through the Place Vendôme, high jewelry has been admired and celebrated for generations. Since the 18th century, the grand jewelry houses within these premises have served as a testament to the long-standing allure of priceless pieces. Even still, diamonds were popularized nearly 400 years earlier in the 14th century.
While high jewelry has a distinctly contemporary feel, some of the earliest jewelry came from the Pleistocene Epoch approximately 25,000 years ago. Although early jewelry oftentimes erred on the side of practicality, a necklace from a Monaco cave proved that solely decorative jewelry was prevalent too. Throughout history, wearers believed that rare gemstones crafted into rings, earrings, and necklaces had spiritual powers. Over time, these beliefs transitioned into symbols of status, community belonging, and societal prowess.
Today, high jewelry is either procured through luxury collections such as englow or passed down through the family tree. Despite the rich history surrounding high jewelry, we are in the midst of a contemporary shift. A myriad of creative finishes, unique styles, and custom-tailored pieces are emerging. At englow, our handmade pieces are upholding the quality of high jewelry while catering to the individuality of modern art.
Now, there’s no need for wearers to distinguish between high jewelry and artwork. Instead, they can enjoy both.
Our process is uniquely collaborative, transforming rare stones and gems into one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Each finished piece is tailored to complement the unique personality of our
patron. As a result, we are taking part in the next chapter of high jewelry history, offering an exciting new way for present-day fashionistas and influencers to showcase who they are.
